Spyware on computers gets very bad press. There is that which is installed without your permission and other times when an employer might install it to watch employees. So, should we ever be looking at it for our own computers?

Well, yes. There are loads of instances when spy software could be very handy on your home computer and that is in the protection of your children. There are a whole variety of different pieces of software that you can look at, with many stopping your children accessing sites.

But, what happens when this software does not detect a new site, or they are talking to strangers on social networking sites?

That is where keyloggers can come in very handy, as well as programs that allow you to monitor what is happening on another machine. Either can let you effectively browse over your child’s shoulder to see what they are doing and to make sure that they are not getting into dangerous situations.

As long as you are honest and open with them and they know that this software exists and s being used, then there is no need for anyone to worry about the existance of it and your children should be a lot safer.
